Dr. McMillen is a proud graduate of Stanford University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in psychology, and UC San Francisco, where he received his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). Following dental school, Dr. McMillen joined the US Air Force and deployed to Okinawa, Japan, where he spent three years furthering his dental education. Following his military service, Dr. McMillen and his wife Betty and family moved to Fort Bragg, California, and have been enyoying life on the Coast ever since.
Away from his Fort Bragg dental office, Dr. McMillen enjoys spending time with family, exercising, and contributing to the Fort Bragg Community at large. He is an avid horseman, runner, and cyclist. He's served on the Fort Bragg school board, been president of the local Rotary Club chapter, was a member of the Fort Bragg Chamber of Commerce, and is an active member of his church congregation. Dr. McMillen's most recent civic passion is fundraising for the construction of the Fort Bragg High School's Timberwolf Stadium, a project he has shepherded since its inception. Dr. Bertheola graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982. He left his practice in southern California and moved to the Mendocino coast in 2000 and has practiced on the coast since.
With over twenty years of experience working in dental offices, Nona keeps the office running smoothly. She is a Registered Dental Assistant and has a license for dental x-rays. In her role as Office Manager, she is knowledgeable about all aspects of dentistry and can answer questions about treatment. She is an expert at helping patients make treatment plans and schedule dental work in a way to accommodate any budget and time constraints. Away from the office, Nona enjoys gardening, cooking, and decorating.
Sarah is licensed as a Registered Dental Assitant and works chair-side with Dr. McMillen, assisting him in all procedures done in the office. She has been with Dr. McMillen for 18 years, and her responsibilities include taking x-rays, explaining procedures to patients, and helping with treatment planning. In addition to her role as a dental assistant, Sarah also does a great deal of the in-house custom lab work. In her free time she enjoys her family, her horse Paisley, and two dogs.
Elaine is licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist and a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she earned a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. Before joining Dr. McMillen's practice in 2001, she spent a number of years working for a periodontist (gum specialist). With her many years of clinical practice, Elaine brings a kind and gentle style to the chair. Elaine is an avid sports fan and rarely misses watching a major sporting event.
Pam grew up in Carson City, Nevada and has been working as a dental assistant since 2015. Pam is currently attending the F.A.D.E Institute for her continuing education. Outside the office Pam enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boxers, Patch and Rocky. Pam enjoys running, traveling, and doing all things outdorsey! She values her faith, family, and friends.
Steve is a graduate of Cal Lutheran University with degree in Psychology and minor in business. Steve has been with our office since 2014 and brings 17 years of experience working as a project manager and insurance coordinator to our office management team. Steve grew up on the Mendocino Coast and moved to Sacramento where he raised his family. He currently lives in Fort Bragg where he enjoys running, playing tennis and is an avid college football fan.
Our comfortable office is located just south of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital, five blocks east of Shoreline Highway One, in a cluster of medical offices just north of South Street.

All of us do at least 25 hours every two years of continuing education to keep ourselves at the leading edge of our profession; the doctors do more than 50 hours of continuing education every two years.
